When you give us suggestions, we listen! And even if you don’t we try to figure out new ways to make the guest rooms comfortable for your stay. Last year, we put brand new carpeting in Isabella, and added additional seating both in Isabella and Niagara, and put flat screen tvs in all the rooms.
Up to this point, the Steuben Suite was the only room at the Grape Arbor with a double bed. We loved it, because the Eastlake antique bed frame matched the dresser and table in the room and gave a unique feel to the room. But most folks are used to bigger beds…
I was concerned that a larger bed not only would lose character in the room, but not leave enough room for reading lights and end tables–two things that I think are absolutely essential in guest rooms. So we measured once, measured twice, hemmed and hawed. And found an expert carpenter who was able to adapt the existing antique headboard for use with a larger bed! Ta dah!
Now Steuben is a suite that has a Queen bed, a wonderfully roomy bathroom with tub and shower, a small sitting room with a daybed (twin sized bed) for a third person (for a small fee) for TV watching and relaxing. Add to that a second 1/2 bath, and you have a super room!
Now I just have to figure out a really neat way to use the old foot board, which the carpenter tells me is solid walnut…Joanna Gaines, where are you?
