I have driven by the Escape Game Erie site in Ridge Road several times, and was intrigued by the sign on the door. My curiosity was piqued enough to look it up on the internet–and was surprised to see that it is voted as the #1 “Best Fun Activities” in Erie on Tripadvisor!
I spoke with the owner who told me that they have up to 1,000 people playing the games per month. Wow! Now, I like to think that I am pretty good at solving puzzles, so I got several people together and we signed up the “Forgotten Laboratory” adventure. Yea, I know, it is supposed to be one of the easy ones, (with a 45% solve rate).
I don’t want to give it away…but we had a blast…it was harder than I thought it would be, maybe because of the pressure of having to figure it out in 50 minutes. The premise of this escape is that you are shut in a room that is an old laboratory…and some type of gas is escaping that you think may be harmful…but your are locked in and have to figure out the code to open the door.
The four of us worked together, because you have to solve the clues in the right order. All I will say is that I haven’t had to stare at a periodic table of the elements in many more years than I would care to count.
So, if you want something fun to do, I highly recommend this! The experience itself lasted a bit more than an hour…but we talked about it for quite a while afterwards. And, yes, we did get out…with almost 6 minutes to spare!
