Grape Arbor Bed and Breakfast

RIP, My Good Friend Tajana Roehl

Cartoon of Peggy and Tajana completing wine tour. Many of you probably never even met my good friend Tajana, but her work here at the Grape Arbor has been invaluable.  You for sure remember her husband, Paul who was the Assistant Manager for a number of years before they moved to Colorado.

Tajana worked behind the scenes at the inn, both when she lived locally and after the move out west.  You see her photography in a number of the rooms, as well as on some of the mugs that are in the guest rooms.   She and I worked to put together the first Insider’s Guide to Lake Erie Wine Country –she took most of the pictures, and laid out the pages to the book.  We visited all the wineries, and debated long and hard the content and verbiage included in that guide.   That is her, spilling the wine out the left side of the car.  She was a genius at figuring out how to get things done on the computer, which was a rare gift to complement her artistic skills.

She worked on the design of our website, and loved toPeggy and Tajana lifting a glass of wine sample any new recipes that I had a mind to try. For a while, she had a small shop in downtown North East, selling her photography in many forms.

But first and foremost she was my friend.  And sadly, lost her battle with cancer on June 29th.  So I raise a glass to her, and honor her life!

  1. Always such a significant loss when the world loses a great artist. My heartfelt condolences to you and my former co-worker, Paul.
