Our local experts are saying that we will be in peak fall color between October 15th and the 25th! Take the time to savor those colorful leaves, and visit us at the Grape Arbor Bed and Breakfast, we can certainly aim you in the direction where we see the leaves at their best!
If you want to head into New York (a mere two miles away) I can point you to my favorite pumpkin stand–pick out your pumpkins and gourds..and pay on the honor system. Head out towards Peek’n Peak Resort and you can fly among the trees on their zip lines or the more calm chairlifts. If you hit the right weekend, you will find Fall Fest–where, among great bands they shoot pumpkins out of cannons!
Another beautiful route in New York sends you to via Rte 89 to Wattsburg, then east of Rte 474 to Clymer. If you still aren’t full from our breakfast…check out the Dutch Village Restaurant with their giant cinnamon rolls and homemade bread. Get back on Rte. 474 and head east onto Rte. 76 in Sherman, then Rte 76N to Ripley and then Route 5 back into North East. This drive takes you through Amish country, so watch for buggies along with the foliage. While on Rte. 5 check out the gorgeous view of the lake!
But in some ways, some of the best sights are right here at home in North East. There are great views at Lakeview Wine Cellars while tasting some of their wine. Or if you want to get out of the car and take a walk…try the 3 mile tour around Eaton Resevoir…I will give you directions to get there.
Then come back to the inn with a bottle of wine, and sit around our firepit, and share your day with us!
