October is the time to do fun and spooky things, and there are lots of things happening around Grape Arbor Bed and Breakfast to satisfy any urge for all things Halloween! If you have had your fill at the wineries, how about a stop at the Brewerie?
Not only will you find great beer, but during the month of October, on limited days, there are tours of the tunnels and dark corners of the underbelly of the train station. Order tickets in advance, as they often sell out. Friday evenings there is also a medium for limited readings!
If you are looking for something theatrical, PACA in downtown Erie is presenting Gorey Stories, a dark comedy based on the poetry and drawings of Edward Gorey, who wrote such fun things as “The Beastly Baby”, and our personal favorite, “The Doubtful Guest.” Last year they did a wonderful job with Rocky Horror Show, so I am definitely looking forward to this!
You may or may not know that Erie is the home of our own tall ship, the Brig Niagara. She usually sneaks away for the winter, but this year there is a wonderful event called “Boos on the Brig” that include haunted ship tours, food trucks, entertainment and costume contests. Tickets are required, but all information is available at the link provided. I love it for the name alone!
Now, Escape Games are available all year…but there is something about October, that make the idea of being abducted and having to figure your way out within a specific time frame that seems appropriate for the month, don’t you think? We did the “Forgotten Laboratory” a few months ago and it was a blast! Advance reservations are required!
And here at the Inn, we will be looking for your input for our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest! This year’s theme (voted on by you!) is…drum roll please….the Ghostly Guest! We will see if I can win back my title as best pumpkin carver/decorator, after a humiliating loss last year!
